Our first program was a total success!!
We woke up bright and early today to prepare for our much anticipated concert at the American University of Beirut, the largest university in the Middle East. We were situated in a beautiful theater that had been organized for us by the communications office. We arrived at 2 PM for a sound check and final rehearsal before our show at 5 PM.
At 5 PM sharp the hall was filled with over 60 children who had been brought by the NGO Auxillia to experience a cultural performance and meditation. We were also host to many AUB students and staff who came to check out the show. We started our show around 5:15 to an audience of over 100 people aged 5 to 55. We started with a few old favorites such as Namami and Jogawa, and then transitioned into a beautiful dance performed by two french volunteers. We then led a half-hour meditation with the group which they thoroughly enjoyed and participated in. The concert was concluded with a fast qawwali and a classical indian dance. Afterwards, the children were invited to come on stage and take pictures with the performers.
All in all, the show was incredible, and we received many offers to conduct other programs across the country. A huge thank you to AUB for hosting us and Auxillia for bringing such a lively and enthusiastic audience. We will have two follow up programs at AUB on Sep. 8th and the 20th in Auditorium A of West Hall at 7 PM. There will be one more concert on Sep. 15th at 8PM in the Bathish Theater of West Hall. We hope to see you all again soon!
